120 Hz screen and low price

Realme is not lacking in ambition: the Chinese manufacturer, very dynamic in India in particular, is making a splash in France with the launch of the Realme 8i, a new smartphone whose particularity is its low-cost 120 Hz screen.

After the number of megapixels and the capacity of RAM, the next battle of smartphone manufacturers is on the screen refresh rate! 120 Hz is indeed starting to become more democratic, both at Samsung and at Apple (with the iPhone 13 Pro) and others, but this technology is still intended for the wealthiest users.

A chip cut for the game

Realme wants to make 120 Hz refresh within the reach of all budgets with the Realme 8i, which has the luxury of being very affordable with its price of 199 €! This device is equipped with a 6.6-inch screen edge to edge, with however a chin at the bottom and a punch for the camera on the front.

To ensure this refresh rate at a budget price, Realme worked with Mediatek on the Helio G96 chip, which contains two fast A75 cores (up to 2.05 GHz) and six thrifty A55 cores. According to the manufacturer, this allows the slab to benefit from improved performance for the game. Another particularity: a dynamic RAM which allows the version with 4 GB of RAM / 128 GB to tap into the available storage to create up to 3 GB of virtual RAM more, if needed.

The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh, offering an autonomy of 40 hours in calls, or the playback of 18 movies continuously. Two versions will be available: 4 + 64 and 4 + 128, priced at € 199 and € 219 respectively (a € 20 reduction coupon is available until October 20). The Realme 8i will be available from October 20.
