After a successful second generation, ORTUR arrives with the brand new Master 3, a laser engraver that the manufacturer promises to be even more efficient.
Power, performance, features, everything seems to have been thought out to make the device the benchmark for professional laser engraving. We took an interest in it and here is what emerges from our test of the ORTUR Master 3 laser engraver.
ORTUR Laser Master 3: a construction designed for performance
Visually, this brand new ORTUR Master 3 laser engraver appears to be nothing short of mundane. However, it is enough to look in detail at the device to understand how well it has been built. Indeed, it is a laser engraver 670 mm long, 580 mm wide and 150 mm high, whose weight is estimated at 4.9 kg.
With such measurements, the device offers a working surface of 400 x 400 mm. Due to its configuration, it only takes a few minutes (between 8 and 10 minutes) and only 4 screws to fully assemble the laser engraver and make it operational. It is entirely made of a fireproof ABS alloy (15% steel, 5% brass and 5% plastic) and 70% aluminum. This combination gives it a form resistant to wear, corrosion and heat.
Additionally, the device packs a focal rod, dual fan, and air assist, all enclosed in a laser module that weighs just 235g. Thanks to this arsenal, the laser engraver is able to perform high-energy cutting and precision engraving.
In addition, the ORTUR Master 3 incorporates several elements which relate more to the construction of the laser engraver than to its operation, but which considerably optimize its use. These include items such as:
- the Panoramic Shield, the all-new design of the eye protection cover, which is able to filter out up to 97% of ultraviolet rays;
- the emergency stop button;
- the safety lock.
ORTUR Laser Master 3: Performance
Behind this high-precision construction of the ORTUR Master 3 hides the latest generation equipment. Indeed, the heart of the device is an OLM-ESP-PRO-V2.4 motherboard of 11e generation, associated with a series firmware V2.0 signed Smart Laser. Also equipped with a 10 W stepper motor, this equipment pushes the laser engraving and cutting performance of the ORTUR Master 3 to the highest level.
Compared to the ORTUR Master 3, the other laser engravers of its generation are clearly no match for this model. With its equipment, the engraver works at the incredible speed of 20,000 mm/minute.
Its engraving field has a depth of 8 mm, allowing a cut of 30 mm, with a precision of 0.01 mm which facilitates the cutting of narrow edges. With this engraver, it is possible to engrave all types of patterns and writings on objects made of various materials, such as:
- the leather ;
- wood ;
- the fabric;
- metal ;
- the box ;
- the paper ;
- tinted glass;
- stainless steel; etc
The ORTUR Master 3 has been equipped with two very high precision LU2-10A laser modules. 5.5 W which further optimizes the laser output power which is between 9,500 and 10,500 mW, with an estimated laser wavelength of 455±5nm.
In addition, thanks to innovative compression technology, the laser beam is small and powerful enough for precision engraving. Indeed, its focusing surface is up to 33% smaller than that of most competing laser modules, i.e. 0.05×0.1 mm.
Thanks to the precision of its laser, the ORTUR Laser Master 3 is able to cut black acrylic panels with a thickness of 12 mm and even 30 mm in one go. The device can also be used to cut plywood panels whose thickness varies between 12 and 15 mm.
ORTUR Laser Master 3: Software and applications
The ORTUR Laser Master 3 supports the best professional engraving software such as Light Burn and Laser GRBL as well as the native Ortur APP Laser Expolrer.
Laser GRBL software
Totally free, this software with features that are easy to learn. It is compatible with Windows from XP to Linux, Windows XP and Windows 10. It allows you to print images in JPEG, BMP, NC or even DXF format.
This software is paid, it has advanced and very customizable functions. In addition to Linux, Windows XP and Windows 10, it is also compatible with Mac OS. Just like the GRBL Laser, it supports the printing of images in JPG, JPEG, NC, BMP, DXF or even NC format.
The Laser Explorer App
It’s a professional application, but it’s still easy to learn. Compatible with Android smartphones and Pads, iPhones and iPads, it allows you to print photos from your smartphone or tablet.
ORTUR Laser Master 3: Features
One of the strengths of this laser engraver is the myriad of features it has. In all, it has up to 5 different features, among which there are:
- the detection of the tilted position;
- position offset detection;
- detection and limitation of laser exposure time;
- current and voltage safety control system;
