A new Mario Kart could be announced this year on Switch

According to an analyst who would do well to hit the nail on the head to keep his credibility capital on the surface, Nintendo may well announce a new one Mario kart in 2022. And if the manufacturer dedicates this release to the Switch, it would sign a first.

In these first days of 2022, the time is for resolutions, and consequently for analysts to go out on the trends to anticipate for this new year. We will probably not escape more or less far-fetched predictions, and the difficulty is therefore to come up with potential information from all these statements.

GamesIndustry.biz brought together analysts that the site invited to express themselves on the video game year to come. Among them, Doctor Serkan Toto working at Kantan Games. After predicting that cryptogaming will be more and more a reality in 2022, the analyst returned to a well-known fold, that of Nintendo.

Mario Kart 2022: a new episode on Switch and another on mobiles?

Doctor Toto spoke about two announcements Nintendo is likely to make on one of its franchises. The first release would take place on Switch.

“I am aware that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling very well on Nintendo Switch, but Mario Kart 9 is in active development (with something new) and Nintendo could teaser it this year”.

Nintendo would also be prepared to give a successor to Mario kart tour on mobile phones and tablets.

“On mobile, Nintendo has been very quiet since the launch of Mario Kart Tour in 2019, but I think 2022 is the time when we will see an established IP arrive on mobile devices again.”

It wouldn’t be surprising if the next Mario Kart episode on Switch is a revamped version of Mario kart tour. That being said, such a release on Nintendo’s goose that lays the golden eggs would mark a first. Indeed, each console that has hosted a Mario Kart has never known a second. But it is true that the currently available Switch episode is only an enriched port of the Mario kart 8 released on Wii U. So it might be time to think about selling something new on a machine that doesn’t have much to steal from the past.
