Warner Bros is working on a new reboot of Ocean’s Eleven. With Margot Robbie in the cast, the film will transport us to the 60s.
We no longer count the number of successful licenses brought up to date by the Hollywood giants. Another series of films will be entitled to its reboot, under the leadership of Warner Bros. This time, it will not be a question of offering a modern reinterpretation of the heist film, as the female reboot could have done, but of plunging us into the past with new characters and new challenges.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it is Margot Robbie who was recruited to carry the main role. The actress will also be producing alongside Tom Ackerley, under the LuckyChap banner. Jay Roach, who previously directed her in bombshell in 2019, will also be there.
The director also worked with her on Scandal, film inspired by a story of sexual harassment in a famous television channel. We therefore imagine that he will not hesitate to infuse his rereading withOcean’s Eleven a bit of feminism. Moreover, it will probably be necessary to wait to learn more about the plot.
We simply know that it will be a question of exploring the Europe of the 60s. A new robbery which we hope will succeed in registering in line with the previous films. Carrie Solomon will be writing the screenplay, this will be the first time that this writing assistant has worked solo.
Released in 2018, Ocean’s 8 was far from having met with unanimous approval from the public and critics. On RottenTomatoes, it obtains only 46% of positive criticisms on the side of the spectators and 68% for the press. At the box office, the film directed by Gary Ross is also far from having worked miracles. He made $297.8 million internationally, compared to $450.7 million for Ocean’s Eleven.
However, the casting had something to enthuse the spectators. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson and Rihanna, there were beautiful people. Expect Warner Bros. to raise the bar even higher with this prequel.
Lots of plans for Margot Robbie
In the meantime, Margot Robbie still has her work cut out for her. She is currently working on Barbie by Greta Gerwig. The actress will portray a doll deemed imperfect as she sets out on an adventure in the real world. Robbie is also said to be in talks with Disney for a remake of Pirates of the Caribbeanwithout Johnny Depp.
Finally, it looks like DC has decided to take a step back with its cinematic universe. Harley Quinn should not return to our screens for the moment, Warner Bros preferring to devote itself to new protagonists. It must be said that despite rather rave reviews, The Suicide Squad by James Gunn did not move the crowds.
It must be said that the health situation was still far from being stabilized, and that the arrival of the HBO Max platform in the equation did not really help.
