a watch on time fast charging

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 would take advantage of its switch to USB-C to offer faster charging. It would only take a few minutes to recover a more comfortable autonomy.

We sometimes tend to forget it, but the flagship functionality of a connected watch remains to tell the time. A bit like smartphones and their telephone function, this element is no longer really highlighted. We are more likely to talk about the options of a connected tocante, such as monitoring activity and health. However, it’s all just a matter of time and Samsung has understood this.

The South Korean giant will soon present its Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, as well as a new range of connected watches. The Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro will soon join the manufacturer’s catalog, bringing with them several interesting new features. A few days before the announcement, it’s the charger and the autonomy which agitate the canvas.

Faster charging and a move to USB-C

The first good news about the Galaxy Watch 5 is the arrival of USB-C. Samsung will keep a magnetic connector – more practical – to charge its watches, but the presence of a USB-C port is good news. It will allowuse any modern charger to supply power to the watch. The switch to USB-C is still rare in the world of smartwatches, despite the advantages of this connector, which is known to be more reliable and faster. In Europe, it is important to note that connected watches will also escape the universal charger.

The other major information is that this new range of watches would benefit from a 10W fast charging. That’s twice as fast as the Galaxy Watch 4 (5W) charging speed. According to leaker SnoopyTech, the Galaxy Watch 5 will be able to go from 0 to 45% in just 30 minutes. Since the charging speed slows down to higher percentages, you should expect a full charge in just over an hour.

For the time being, it is nevertheless difficult to get a very precise idea insofar as these watches would have more generous batteries. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro would carry a 572mAh battery, against 361 mAh for the Galaxy Watch 4. The classic version would also be entitled to more generous accumulators. So many elements that suggest that the Galaxy Watch 5 looks like the Wear OS smartwatch to watch ; at least until the Pixel Watch arrives.

A rising price

Samsung indirectly confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro. Insider Evan Blass, with site 91Mobiles, also posted renders of the new watches. Like folding smartphones, we finally learn that the Galaxy Watch 5 should be subject to a price increase.

After Roland Quandt’s revelations in June, it’s Steve Hemmerstoffer’s turn to discuss the prices of future Samsung devices. Better known as OnLeaks, the leaker evoked the following prices:

  • Galaxy Watch 5 40mm (Bluetooth) : 299€
  • Galaxy Watch 5 40mm (4G) : 349€
  • Galaxy Watch 5 44mm (Bluetooth) : 329€
  • Galaxy Watch 5 44mm (4G) : 379€
  • Galaxy Watch 5 45mm (Bluetooth) : 469€
  • Galaxy Watch 5 45mm (4G) : 499€

A price increase of 30 euros would be to be expected, but it will be necessary to wait until August 10 to obtain confirmation.
