If you thought that the Nintendo switch had made the rounds of its possibilities, you were wrong, it is only halfway through its life.
The big news this week for Nintendo is the new all-time high reached by the Nintendo Switch. The console, on the market since 2017, managed to surpass the Wii in terms of sales numbers. Good news for fans of this console, you should see it in your stores for a long time. Indeed, in a report, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa said that the Nintendo Switch was only at the ” half of its life cycle. »
It is not the shortage of components that scares the firm. Despite this, Nintendo succeeded to sell 103.54 million copies of its hybrid console, all models combined. Even with the approach of the holidays, it is the manufacturer which has slowed down its pace the least and which has not yet experienced a shortage of stocks, unlike its competitors Sony and Microsoft.
A Switch Pro approaching?
Users have been treated to 3 different models so far: The classic Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch Lite playable only in handheld mode, and the Nintendo Switch OLED which has a better screen, and an improved dock. So can we expect three more models? At least one according to rumors. Indeed, the announcement and the release of the Nintendo Switch OLED did not silence the people who said around an upcoming Nintendo Switch Pro.
It is especially Bloomberg, who knows sources close to the file, which often relays information about this new iteration of the console. According to them, it should finally support 4K in living room mode (at least), which would be a major step forward for the firm which until then offered consoles below its competitors in terms of performance.
The CEO, in the report, goes on to state that “ the momentum this year is good. The Switch is poised to break the pattern of past consoles that saw their momentum wane in their sixth year on the market and continue to grow. Unlike the brand’s other consoles, the Nintendo Switch is in very good shape, despite its great age.
Nintendo is also about games
To help it sell consoles, Nintendo is also relying heavily on its successful franchises. And this year, we are expecting something heavy! First of all, the sequel to Zelda Breath of the Wild should reach us before the end of the year. We are also waiting Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, or even a possible Mario Kart.
