After Jupiter’s Legacy failure, Mark Millar returns to Netflix with an anime

Despite the rather cold reception reserved for Jupiter’s Legacy, Mark Millar unveils the new animated series inspired by his work.

Obviously, Mark Millar does not hold a grudge. After the cancellation of Jupiter’s Legacy, which was only entitled to one season on Netflix, the comic book writer will again collaborate with the platform. The very prolific author will carry his license Great Crooks, that he developed with Leinil Francis Yu, in the world of Japanese animation. This production will be released in just one month, November 25.

Focused on supervillain Johnny bolt and his friends, the plot follows the merry gang as they decide to go to Spain to prepare a huge heist. However, things get complicated when they discover that their target is none other than the greatest criminal in history. But these robbers are not like those in La Casa De Papel, to name a few, since they have superpowers. Unlike the heroic figures of Marvel or DC, they decided to put their extraordinary abilities to work, for their own good. Not models of virtue then.

The studio My Hero Academia

To put in images this new superheroic epic, Netflix turned to regulars of the genre. It’s at Studio Bones that the task has been entrusted. The company founded in 1998 has several productions to its credit, starting with the film Cowboy Bebop which she co-produced in partnership with Sunrise. The first images shared by Netflix are also reminiscent of the series from the 90s, which has just joined the catalog. Anime fans will therefore have a choice this November. Especially since the adaptation, live-action this time, of the adventures of the passengers of the Bebop is also preparing to invade our screens. The appointment is set for November 19.

Otherwise, Mark’s universe Millar will return to the big screen with Tea King’s Man: First Mission. Adapted from the author’s comics, this new chapter will immerse us several decades before the adventures ofEggsy. Matthew Vaughn’s film is due out to cinema on December 29th. At the casting, we will discover Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) in chief of rank as well as Rhys Ifans (Good Morning England) in the skin of Rasputin. Gemma Arterton (Prince of persia) will also be there.

Despite the failure of Jupiter’s Legacy, Mark Millar has not said his last word. It remains to be seen from now on what reception will be reserved for Super Crooks.
