Amazon has not let up despite the start of the school year, which often leads to increased costs for households. The distribution giant had however indicated that the increase in the Prime subscription would take place around mid-September, but alas, the new pricing has been effective since Monday. In detail, this means that the monthly Prime subscription goes from 5.99 euros to 6.99 euros (+17% increase!) and that the annual Prime subscription goes from 49 euros to 69.90 euros, i.e. a much greater increase in percentage (+43%!). Even students are tasting since the Prime Student subscription goes from 2.99 to 3.49 euros per month.
Those who had waited until the start of the school year to renew their subscription, saying to themselves that they still had a little margin… will therefore be at their expense. Amazon may have thought it was a double whammy to pass the subscription increase at the same time as the launch of The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power series.
