an adaptation of Travel to the center of the Earth is preparing

The author of the Around the World in 80 Days is definitely on the rise, with a third series in preparation for 2022.

A few months ago, Disney + formalized Nautilus, a series based on the novel 20000 Leagues Under the Sea. On December 20, the BBC and France 2 will also broadcast a series adapted from Around the world in 80 days by Jules Verne. Obviously, the French writer is seducing at the moment, sincea third series is already in preparation. This time it is about Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Imagined by Slim Film + Television and Federation Entertainment, this new series will be worn by Ashley Pharoah, already at the origin of the BBC adaptation, reports the site of Variety. For the time being, it is not yet clear who will play Professor Lidenbrock and the rest of his expedition. The showrunner, however, evokes a “Exciting new adventure”, explaining : “It seemed natural that our next trip would take us to the depths of our planet and its many secrets, through this ever so fascinating story”.

Written in 1864, Journey to the Center of the Earth has already had many adaptations on the small and big screen. Since 1967, Jules Verne’s novel has been the subject of 5 films, including one with Dwayne Johnson in the lead role.

Season 2 for Around the World in 80 Days

If the showrunners are so confident about the arrival of a new series based on the writings of Jules Verne, it is because the adaptation of the Around the world in 80 days already looks particularly promising. Played by David Tennant (Doctor who) in the title role, the project was renewed for a second burst of episodes, even before its broadcast on the BBC. In France, it is France 2 which should take care of the distribution by the end of the year.
