Android users can finally do something else while listening to voicemails

While iOS users could already let their voicemails play in the background, the feature is now coming in the latest WhatsApp beta on Android. When a note is launched, a small player appears in the notification menu, leaving the possibility of going about your business at the same time.

WhatsApp betas are often a nest of novelties that it is possible to discover before the hour. A few days ago, we were talking to you about the possibility of posting a poll in a group conversation, which could happen in the coming months. Regularly, on the other hand, iOS users take advantage of these features first, at the expense of Android users who have to wait their turn.

This is precisely the case of a long-awaited feature: background voicemail playback. Currently, it is still necessary to keep the conversation open to be able to listen to an entire voice note, which can be very frustrating when it drags on. However, at the beginning of the year, WhatsApp added an external player allowing you to navigate to other applications while listening.

Android users will be able to leave WhatsApp while listening to their voicemails

Until now, only iPhone users had access to this feature. Now is the time for Android smartphones to take advantage of it. The latest WhatsApp beta indeed adds the reader in the notifications menu, which therefore makes it possible to manage listening while browsing other applications. It is thus possible pause the note and advance playback at a specific point.

The final deployment date is not yet known. What’s more, only a few insider users seem to have access to it at the moment. If you want to verify that you are one of them, just download the beta from WhatsApp. It is therefore possible that you will have to wait a little longer before being able to test for yourself, while the developers release a stable version of the functionality.
