Apple Music was one of the few music streaming services, alongside Deezer, to offer a three-month trial to new customers. It is not the case anymore. Indeed, it will take 30 days to discover Apple’s proposal.
Apple Music landed on the music streaming services market in 2015. Since then, Apple’s proposal has quickly made a name for itself among the heavyweights in the sector, alongside Deezer, Spotify, Amazon Unlimited or Tidal. . And if Spotify is still number one, Apple Music sticks to the train of its main competitor with 15% market share (compared to 31% for Spotify) in 2021.
And obviously, the situation could clearly turn in favor of Apple Music in the coming months. Indeed, Spotify is going through a very difficult time after the Neil Young controversy. The artist asked in a letter for the immediate removal of his entire discography from the platform after the broadcast of podcasts sharing anti-vaccine opinions. Since this case came to light, Spotify subscribers are leaving the service in droves.
Apple Music ends three months free for newcomers
Six and a half years after its launch, Apple Music has decided to change its policy regarding trial periods. Indeed, Apple Music was one of the few music streaming services to offer three months free to its new customers. From now on, it will be necessary to be satisfied with thirty day to discover the different functionalities and the catalog of the platform.
It must be said that the apple brand had chosen to opt for this strategy, namely a generous trial period, to counter the free version of Spotify (filled with advertisements). Now comfortably installed in this market, Apple Music no longer needs to offer such a long discovery period in the eyes of the Cupertino company.
Be careful however, you can still get a six-month Apple Music trial when you buy a pair of AirPods, HomePod or Beats by Dre headphones/earphones. An attractive offer that may encourage some buyers to take the plunge. Regarding the subscription formulas, no change to report. Apple Music in full version remains displayed at €9.99 per month (€14.99 for access to five profiles). As a reminder, Apple Music has been offering Lossless and spatial audio since July 2021 on its Android and iOS application and on its web version.
