The AirPods Pro were presented yesterday by Apple, but they are not the only wireless headphones updated by Apple.
Apple had made an appointment with its public yesterday for a major back-to-school keynote. During this event, called “Far Out.”, Apple spoke at length about the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, the real stars of the evening. But during this conference, Apple also took advantage of the attention of its public to present to the world the new AirPods Pro.
These headphones are an update of the first generation of the product which was released in 2019. They are announced by Apple as more powerful and more enduring. The Cupertino company also explained during its keynote that it had worked a lot on active noise reduction, making it twice as powerful as the first version.
Apple: an update in the shadow of the AirPods Pro
But in addition to this major novelty, Apple has decided to make a more discreet update on its products. Indeed, the AirPods 3 also had the right to an improvement. The apple brand now offers to buy these wireless headphones, presented for the first time in October 2021, in a version with a wired box only.
Since the AirPods 2, Apple has offered a case capable of supporting wireless charging. A very useful feature, which follows on from the AirPower project, which was to standardize wireless charging for the general public. With the AirPods 3, released last year, Apple didn’t even give users a choice.
The headphones were available in a wireless version, and while the Lightning port was still there, wired charging was not Apple’s priority. But today the Apple brand seems to be backtracking. It has just added a slightly cheaper version of the AirPods 3 to its site, with a case that is not compatible with wireless charging.
A little bit lower price
In terms of the final price, the difference is minimal. The difference is 10 euros between the two models. You have to pay €219 for the version compatible with MagSafe charging for these AirPods 3, against €209 for the wired version which has just appeared on the official Apple store.
This is not the first time that Apple has taken advantage of a keynote to make unannounced changes to its online Apple Store. During various events in the past, the apple brand had taken advantage of the arrival of new products to introduce small additional accessories.
This is particularly the case of Apple Watch bracelets which are only rarely presented live, but which often have the right to an update the day after the keynote.
