The Blizzard studio unveils a new franchise of survival games and introduces a completely new universe.
For some time now, the news about the Activision Blizzard studio has more often focused on the takeover of the box by the giant Microsoft, or even on the harassment case – among other problems – within the company. So it’s been a while since we’ve had any news of the games developed by the studio. In addition to the development of the Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 titles, Blizzard today announced the creation of a new franchise of survival games.
These should introduce a whole new universe, which seems to borrow the codes of fantasy. Indeed, on the shared image, we see two young people entering a sort of portal, giving onto a fantastic world, overhung by a castle floating in the air. Of course, this is a simple illustration that does not mean anything concrete for the moment. But it could also be that this drawing serves as a basis to illustrate the world that Blizzard has in mind.
Are you developers? here is your chance
By the way, the studio takes the opportunity to place a recruitment ad in order to find collaborators to work on this new project. This is not surprising when we think back to the fact that the firm had to lay off part of its workforce since the beginning of the case. In total, there are no less than 37 dismissals and 44 internal sanctions, and the studio does not intend to stop there!
While waiting for the big spring cleaning, planned by Microsoft following the takeover, the studio must therefore bail out its teams to compensate for the colossal losses of recent months. On the announcement shared by Blizzard, it is written that the company is actively looking for developers in the fields of software engineering, design and art.
” Do you like survival games? Do you want to join a collaborative team of experienced developers at the start of a new project in a new world…and help write the next chapter in Blizzard history? This is your call to adventure “.
The first Xbox exclusive?
For the moment, these few details are the only ones we have, so it is obvious that this universe will only see the light of day in a few years. However, the studio specifies that we can expect a release on PC and consoles, although it did not specify which ones. Will it be one of the first Xbox exclusives? Everything suggests that yes, by the time the game is released Microsoft will have already started to take advantage of its acquisition.
