The four star soldiers of Modern Warfare 2 are therefore back in this new episode expected for this end of the year. Captain John Price takes over as squad leader Task Force 141, alongside Sergeant “Soap” MacTavish, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, and Colonel Alejandro Vargas. Another visual, which could be similar to the future cover of the game, was also revealed on the studio’s Twitter feed. Activision relies heavily on Modern Warfare 2 to reconnect with sales which, although still in good shape, are noticeably reduced from year to year.

A new series of leaks have also been unveiled in tandem with the official announcement of Modern Warfare 2. It comes to us from the Twitter account CharlieIntelspecializing in leaks of all kinds from the franchise call of duty. The latter claims that 3 different editions, identified in the Vanguard files, are planned for the launch of this new episode.

Modern Warfare 2 could thus land with a Standard edition, but also Cross Gen, which would include the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game, in addition to the next-gen versions. Finally, a Vault Edition is also planned, and should include a number of additional contents.

More interestingly, this leak would confirm an open beta that would be released first on PlayStation consoles. Only a few days ago, another leak showed a first extract of gameplay from the game. A very vague video, but which could be the first concrete preview of the game, ahead of its official trailer.
