Vanity Fair has published a river article on the Rings of Power series, the prequel to the Lord of the Rings saga that Amazon is preparing. The publication is accompanied by a dozen photos showing for the first time the actors who will play the main protagonists. The American magazine also reveals some additional information on the content of the series.

On September 2, Amazon Prime Video will start streaming its most ambitious series to date: Rings of Power, a prequel to The Lord of the Rings saga. This is the most expensive series in history, since it will cost $465 million for the first season alone. It is even the most expensive audiovisual production in history, the old record, held by Pirates of the Caribbean 4, being 410 million dollars.

We were obviously curious to know what such an expensive series might look like. So far, Amazon has only released a single image from the series, along with a teaser without a series image to introduce the official title “ Rings of Power (or the Rings of Power in VF). Today we learn a lot more about the series thanks to the American magazine Vanity Fair. The latter published an article on the series and behind the scenes. This article is accompanied by a dozen photos that reveal for the first time the actors and some of the characters that we will find in the series. We have selected three of them, two of which Elrond and Galadriel, since they will be two of the main protagonists. But the series will count more than twenty of different races: elves, dwarves and humans in particular, since they are the ones who will receive the rings of power from the hands of Sauron.

So here is some information we learn about the actors. Morfydd Clark will play Galadriel, role played by Cate Blanchett in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. She will be the only one to see evil coming and will be rejected by the other Elves. Remember that this series takes place during the Second Age of Middle-earth. That is to say hundreds of years before the Third Age during which the adventures of Frodo take place.

Another character crossed in the Third Age, Elrond (played so far by Hugo Weaving) will be played by Robert Aramayo. Sophia Nomvete will play say, the princess of the Dwarves. Owain Arthur will be the prince of the Dwarves, Durin IV. Charlie Vickers will play Halbrand, a human and a new character created for the series. Another new character: the Elf Round who will be played by Ismael Cruz Cordova. He will have a forbidden romance with a human, Bronwynwhich will be performed by Nazanin Boniadi.
