Disney+ does not rule out the idea of a season 2

Could Obi-Wan Kenobi return for a second season on Disney+? A few months before the broadcast of the series, Lucasfilm does not completely close the door to the idea of a second season.

Obi Wan

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has always been thought of as a limited series. Mirroring The Book of Boba Fett, or several Marvel shows broadcast on Disney+, the series is built around a story that has a well-defined beginning and end.

Deborah Chow, the director of the series, seems convinced that the Star Wars series will be reduced to a single season. “It was certainly designed as a limited series, and it’s a big story with a beginning, middle, and end. The approach has always been to make it a complete story”, says Deborah Chow.

Lucasfilm does not close the door to a season 2 for Obi-Wan Kenobi

For her part, Kathleen Kennedy, director of Lucasfilm, leaves the door open to a possible sequel dedicated to the cult character of the Star Wars saga. “It’s definitely something we talk about, mainly because everyone came together and had an amazing time. Ewan had an amazing time. Hayden had an amazing time”explains Kathleen Kennedy, questioned within the framework of an article of Entertainment Weekly.

“Everyone involved would like this not to end. But we really have to spend our time asking ourselves this question: why would we? If we were to decide to do something more with the character of Obi-Wan, we would really have to answer this question: why?tempers the manager.

Obviously, Lucasfilm and Disney + will wait the critical reception of the first season before starting a possible second batch of episodes. The eventual success of the series should motivate the writers to find a way to embroider around the last 10 years of exile of Obi-Wan (still camped by Ewan McGregor) on Tatooine.

At the same time, Hayden Christensen, the interpreter of Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader, spoke of his return to the role. The actor assured that the Sith Lord will be “very powerful”. He even hinted that the series might show his face, which implies the presence of flashbacks.
