Marvel will once again be tapping into its character roster for its upcoming Disney+ series, as The Hollywood Reporter announces that a Wonder Man TV series is in the works. At the controls of the live-action series, we will find Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton and Brooklyn Nine-Nine screenwriter Andrew Guest.

No casting or release information for the series was mentioned, but Hollywood Reporter claims thatit could go into production in 2023. Given Andrew Guest’s background in comedies, it’s a safe bet that the series will offer a touch of humor.

Who is Wonder Man, the protagonist of the next Disney+ series?

For those who don’t know him, Wonder Man, also known as Simon Williams, is a stunt performer and actor. It was originally created by Stan Lee, Don Heck and Jack Kirby in the pages of the Avengers #9 comic released in 1964. It is therefore present in the Marvel universe for almost 60 years.

He is above all the son of a wealthy industrialist, Sanford Williams, whose business suffers from competition from Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. Simon eventually became a criminal after embezzling company money from his family. While he was in a bad situation, Simon receives a proposal from Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil.

The latter then treat the future hero with chemical radiation of “ionic” energy, which will give him superhuman powers. Wonder Man is endowed with various superpowers ranging from strength and speed to ion energy manipulation and even teleportation. After having faced the Avengers several times in the comics, the hero ends up joining their ranks.

While waiting to learn more about the next Marvel series, we remind you that another series is currently arriving every Wednesday on the platform: Miss Marvel. The new Marvel series is also the highest rated on Disney +. On the same day, we are also treated to new episodes of the Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
