Dune Spice Wars: the game from the French studio Shiro Games reveals its fights in real time (and it’s beautiful)

The announcement of a new video game in the universe of Dunes had undoubtedly been one of the events of the last Game Awardsespecially since the cult work of Frank Herbert already benefited from a superb spotlight with the release a few months earlier of Denis Villeneuve’s film. The other event was the confirmation that the game Dune: Spice Wars was developed by the French studio Shiro Gamesto whom we owe the excellent Northgard and Wartales as well as the cute series of mobile RPGs Evoland.

Dune Spice Wars clearly follows in the footsteps of the very good Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty (1992) from the legendary Westwood Studios. The first trailer gameplay indeed confirms that we will be entitled to a very focused RTS “management-strategy” with real-time combat phases. These combat sequences are quite spectacular and can even be interrupted by unforeseen events, such as a sandstorm… or the appearance of a huge Shai-Hulud (giant worm)! Dune Spice Wars doesn’t have a release date yet, but one early access is planned for this year on Steam.
