It’s the end of an era, FIFA 23 will be the last Electronic Arts football game to be called as it is, the following ones will be EA Sports FC. This follows the end of a 28-year partnership between EA and FIFA.
Games Fifa will change their name to become EA Sports FC
“After nearly 30 years of creating genre-defining interactive football experiences, we will soon begin an exciting new era”says Electronic Arts in a press release. FIFA 23 will see the light of day this fall and from 2024, players will have the right to Electronic Arts football games called EA Sports FC. But the group assures it, the name will change but the experience will be the same:
Everything you love about our games will be in EA SPORTS FC — the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes will be there. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Clubs Pro and VOLTA Football will all be there. Our unique licensing portfolio of 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will always be there, only in EA SPORTS FC. This includes exclusive partnerships with the Premiere League, La Liga, Bundesliga, La Serie A, MLS — and more to come.
This name change is seen positively by Electronic Arts. The studio ensures that “this new independent platform will offer new opportunities – to innovate, create and evolve”. The fact of no longer depending on FIFA will obviously allow it to open up more. “We are committed to meaningful reinvestment in sport”says the studio.

To see therefore if the players will really have the right to a new experience as promised by Electronic Arts. Players complain that games Fifa have looked too much alike for a few years now.
