GoPro Hero11 Black, not one but three new features

A new sensor in 8:7 format, HyperSmooth 5.0, horizon leveling, HyperView, here are the brand new GoPro Hero 11 Black which come in three versions.

Regulated like a Swiss clock, the American manufacturer is taking advantage of the start of the school year to announce its new season with its new GoPro Hero11 Black to succeed the Hero10 Black. But this year, the new actioncam will be entitled to three variations, the version Hero11 Blackthe Hero11 Black Creator Edition and the Hero11 Black Mini.

GoPro Hero11 Black Series

The GoPro Hero11 Black in 3 flavors

As you can imagine, the Hero11 Black is the classic version that succeeds the Hero10 Black. It offers the same design and is therefore by default compatible with all the accessories of the Hero10 Black such as the MediaMod for example.

The Hero11 Black Creator Edition is basically the Hero11 Black with MediaMod, LightMod and Volta Battery Grip. GoPro presents it as a fully-fledged actioncam, but it’s the Hero11 Black with all the accessories dedicated to video.

And finally, the little novelty is none other than the Hero11 Black Mini which is a Hero11 Black but reduced to the bare minimum and therefore without the screens. It is reminiscent of the Hero Session lights and is intended for activities where weight and bulk are important. We are thinking in particular of FPV drones and other extreme sports where weight can be important.

Technological novelties

Apart from accessories and design, the three GoPro Hero11 Black all offer the same technical characteristics and therefore the same advances compared to the Hero10 Black.

We start with a brand new 1/1.9″ sensor capable of capturing 27 megapixel photos, and videos up to 5.3K at 60fps. And to top it off, the new sensor allows 10-bit video recording. But that’s not all, the sensor offers an 8:7 format! Yes, it’s borderline square and it allows the GoPro Hero11 Black to capture more vertical content. So, as you might expect, capturing in square format allows you to crop the image in landscape or portrait format. Thus, no need to save in landscape format for Youtube for example and in portrait format for TikTok. With a single recording, you can output in landscape mode and/or in portrait mode. Practice.

This new sensor, coupled with GoPro’s GP2 processor, provides HyperView support and therefore the widest possible viewing angle, particularly useful for so-called “first person” content. But that’s not all since we find horizon maintenance, HyperSmooth stabilization which goes to version 5.0, new night TimeLapse or TimeWarp 3.0 in 5.3K.

Other new features since the GoPro Hero11 Black offers to switch between an Easy mode and a Pro mode to simplify the taking of content as much as possible according to the level of the user. The Hero11 Black are delivered automatically with the new Enduro battery.
