Gran Turismo 7 removed from the Russian PlayStation Store

Gran Turismo 7 Just released on PlayStation 4 and 5, but there’s one territory where Polyphony Digital’s title isn’t currently available for legal download: Russia. Gran Turismo 7 was thus withdrawn from the sale of the PlayStation Store Moscow version.

Despite generally higher prices than in stores, AAA titles sell quite well on the digital platforms of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Gran Turismo 7 should not be an exception to the rule, if indeed we can access the purchase page of the title on the PlayStation Store concerned.

On this Friday, Eurogamer.net claims that the night before Sony made the decision to withdraw Gran Turismo 7 from the Russian PlayStation Store. It should be noted that our colleagues speak of a “discreet” deletion when such an anticipated title was necessarily watched by many players on their console, PS4 or PS5.

Gran Turismo 7 on the Russian PS Store: “release date awaiting confirmation”

The Russian PlayStation Store still has a page of Gran Turismo 7but under the home platforms, we can read the following message:

“Release date pending confirmation”.

Eurogamer.net claims to have made several attempts to contact Sony before the launch of Gran Turismo 7 in order to know the plans of the manufacturer concerning the release of the title in Russia. The latest news, Sony had not yet issued an official communication on the subject. It would also remain to be determined whether the game can be physically purchased on Russian soil.

We recall that earlier this week and through an open letter, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov called on Sony and Xbox to stop distributing their products in Russia and Belarus. On Thursday, CD PROJEKT RED, the developer of The Witcher video game franchise and Cyberpunk 2077, announced to stop the sale of its titles in the countries mentioned. GSC Game World, a Ukrainian studio, has meanwhile indicated that the development of STALKER 2 is interrupted. Its release, expected on PC and Xbox Series, was so far scheduled for December 8.
