This March 15 marks the availability of Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with an optimized version of the game from Rockstar. Grand Theft Auto Online is also available on new consoles.
Availability of GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
The game was therefore released on three generations of consoles. First there were the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, then the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014. And now the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft have the right to it with visual improvements.
GTA 5 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is entitled to a Fidelity mode (native 4K, 30 frames per second and ray-tracing), a Performance mode (4K upscaled and 60 frames per second), as well as a Performance RT mode (4K upscaled, 60 frames per second and ray-tracing). We can also mention faster loading, more elements on the screen (traffic, vegetation, pedestrians, etc.) and support for DualSense features on the Sony console.
On PlayStation 5, the combo GTA 5 + GTA Online is available for €9.99 until June 14. This will then increase to €39.99. On Xbox Series X / S, it’s € 19.99 until June 14 then € 39.99. Why a difference between the two supports? Rockstar does not say it, but we can imagine that the group signed a commercial agreement with Sony.
It is also possible to have only GTA Online. In this case, the game is free for PS5 players. They have until June 14 to claim it from the PlayStation Store. It will then be 19.99€. But it’s worth noting that people who pick it up by June 14 will still get it for free after that date. As for the Xbox Series X / S, the price is € 9.99 until June 14 then € 19.99.
