Halo Infinite is once again pushing back its co-op mode

Decidedly, difficult to speak ofHalo Infinite without mentioning the word “delay” in the same sentence: the co-op mode of the Countryside from 343 industries will not be at the meeting initially set for next May. The technical ambition of the game, with its large open world, would have posed an obstacle to the development team, which was forced to postpone the release date of the cooperation mode, and this indefinitely.

Halo Infinite will Campaign on its own for a little while

Released last December on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Halo Infinite was an exception in the history of the franchise with the absence of a cooperative mode for its solo campaign, usually inseparable from the adventures of the Master Chief… A mode which was to arrive in the months following the release of the title, with a date initially set for 3 next May… Until today.

It’s in a new post on the official Halo Waypoint blog that Joseph Statent, Creative Director of Halo Infinite, announces a new delay for the game’s co-op campaign. considerably the development of the cooperative mode due to its technical ambition:

[…] It’s going to take longer to release a 4-day co-op campaign in the massive open world of Halo Infinite. We’re also committed to delivering a great 2-player split-screen co-op experience on all Xbox consoles, from the original Xbox One through Xbox Series X—and the non-linear and open-ended sections of the Campaign present significant challenges for the split screen that take us longer to resolve.

The co-op Campaign mode was set to arrive in tandem with the launch of Season 2 for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode. A missed appointment therefore, but the development team ensures that the release of the cooperative mode is still planned for Season 2… Without further details. It will undoubtedly be necessary to count on an arrival during the next summer. As for Forge, the multiplayer game map creation mode, its release is still expected for Season 3, later this year.
