Harley-Davidson starts its new electric motorcycle at $15,000

LiveWire, Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle brand, has unveiled its new model! More accessible and more “urban”, the S2 Del Mar has everything to seduce.

The LiveWire One was launched by Harley-Davidson last year to affirm that the manufacturer did not refrain from frankly stepping out of its comfort zone. It did it again this week with the S2 Del Mar, a more affordable model that broadens the potential customer base.

The revolution in progress

First in terms of price: where the One is marketed from $21,999, the S2 Del Mar starts at $17,699 in its launch edition which will be produced in only 100 units. The standard production model will be even cheaper at $15,000. It’s still high prices worthy of a car, but for Harley-Davidson and its LiveWire brand, the S2 Del Mar is a small revolution.

The new model promises a power of 80 horsepower (59.6 kW) for a weight of 200 kg. It achieves a 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds or less! It will be necessary to hang on to the handlebars… The autonomy displayed is 160 km. The Del Mar is produced on the Arrow platform, the same one that manufactures the One, but in its S2 version intended for lighter motorcycles.

The vehicle is perched on two custom-developed Dunlop DT1 wheels, which are capable of rolling on both paved surfaces and more difficult terrain. LiveWire promises that the driver will enjoy a “comfortable and controlled driving experience”. With a sporty and urban design, the Del Mar has a few arguments to make to anyone looking to equip themselves with two electric wheels.

And the success of is not long in coming: the 100 copies of the launch edition of the Del Mar were reserved in… 18 minutes! A waiting list has been opened, for deliveries which will begin in the spring of 2023.
