After showing impressive first numbers ahead of its official free-to-play release, the MMOARPG Lost Ark confirms its momentum and becomes the second most played game in the history of Steam. With over 1.3 million concurrent users, this diablo like massively multiplayer has shattered the records held by Counter-Strike and DOTA 2 for its arrival in the West and currently remains the most popular game on Valve’s platform at the time of writing.
Lost Ark explodes Steam numbers
We talked about it a few days ago: although its free-to-play release was expected for Friday February 11, Lost Ark offered paid early access… Which had already attracted more than 500,000 eager players. A widely converted test when looking at SteamDB’s database stats.
The South Korean game thus marked a peak of 1,325,305 concurrent users in the past 24 hours—a record that easily beats that of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valve’s timeless FPS and its peak at 1,308,963 players. Lost Ark still remains far, very far from the monstrous record of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDSthe pseudo-military battle royale that made history with a peak of 3,257,248 registered users during the month of June 2018.
the diablo like is by far the most popular game on Steam, well over one million users at least every day since its release last Friday. It is a huge success for its publisher Amazon Games which renews once again with success, several months after the release of its first original production. New Worldan MMORPG whose peak number of concurrent users was close to one million players.
But unlike newworld, Amazon Games only takes care of the localization of Lost Ark in the West: the South Korean game has already proven to be a real hit on the Asian continent since its release in 2019, quickly becoming a staple of the genre in Japan, Russia and on the Twitch streaming platform.
