Motorola thinks big and presents three new smartphones. Among the novelties, a compact model called Edge 30 neo and a more upscale model, the Edge 30 Fusion. We tell you all about these ambitious models.
After Huawei and Apple, it’s Motorola’s turn to present its new smartphones. An emblematic brand, owned by Lenovo, Motorola has regained ambitions and the desire to be a major player in the smartphone market. Faced with competition, the firm is placing particular emphasis on its Edge 30 range which already includes two models including the Edge 30 Pro (read our test). It is this series that the manufacturer has decided to consult by offering three new models: theEdge 30 NeoI’Edge 30 Fusion and the Edge 30 Ultra. The three devices are not quite on the same segment; which should help Motorola reach as many users as possible.
Edge 30 Neo: the Motorola-style compact smartphone
A newcomer to the Edge 30 family, the Neo is a mid-range model with a tendency to compactt. It has a 6.3 inch OLED screen displaying in Full HD+ at 120Hz and a processor Snapdragon 695 5G from Qualcomm. Coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, it provides a solid foundation for this 5G smartphone. Motorola adds a 4020mAh batterycompatible with the 68W wired fast charging and 5W wireless.
Regarding the photo, the Edge 30 Neo offers a 64-megapixel main sensor with optical stabilization. Still on the back of the device, there is a 13 megapixel module described as “multi-functional” which offers to capture photos in ultra wide angle ; to make portraits and macro. Up front, selfies are taken care of by a 32-megapixel front camera.
With l’Edge 30 FusionMotorola changes category and delivers a high-end device. It is actually the little brother of the Edge 30 Ultra – which we present here – and has a classic and modern design. We find a frame in metal and polished sandblasted aluminum that the manufacturer associates with a matte touch. The back of the device highlights the photo block while a punch on the front recalls the presence of a front camera.
Edge 30 Fusion: heat stroke on the competition?
Equipped with a 6.5 inch curved OLED displays, it displays in Full HD+ and offers a refresh rate of 144Hz. Light effects on the edges of the mobile warn the user of the notifications received. Under the hood, the Edge 30 Fusion features a Qualcomm chip Snapdragon 888+ and seeing this SoC in a model launched in September 2022 is surprising. Introduced in 2021, it has since been replaced by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 8+ Gen 1. The existence of an Ultra version, equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, makes this choice easier to understand. Motorola completes this configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, as well as a 4400mAh battery. The latter appears to be compatible with the 68W TurboPower charging from the manufacturer.
Compatible with 5G, wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, the Edge 30 Fusion presents three rear cameras. A 50 megapixel main sensor offers optical stabilization and omnidirectional autofocus. The device manages in passing the “quad pixels” technology to combine 4 pixels in 1. 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle also manages the macro while a 2 megapixel module takes care of the portraits. At the front, there is a 32 megapixel sensor. The video is not left out with the possibility of filming in 8K.
Finally, the Edge 30 Fusion is compatible with the manufacturer’s Ready for function.
