Motorola unveils new generation of entry-level smartphones

Will Motorola Moto G smartphones be the new benchmark in the entry-level world?

Motorola today announced the renewal of its Moto G range of smartphones, with 4 new generation entry-level smartphones, and one mid-range. While price is the main selling point of these devices, they all have pretty much the same features and stand out in one area each.

The same, or almost

For the moto g31, Motorola is playing on versatility with an average smartphone in all categories, but with an unbeatable price. It has a 6.4-inch Full HD + OLED display and has a 50MP main sensor. Inside, there is a Mediatek G85 chip, coupled with a 5000 mAh battery. In short, the perfect tool for everyday use, for those who are not tech-savvy.

It will be available from € 219 from next December. It can go up to 239 € in its configuration with 128 GB of ROM.

The moto g41 is very similar to the g31 – it has the same screen, the same chip and the same battery – and differs in terms of its photo sensors. It has a 48 MP main sensor, coupled with an ultra wide angle and a macro lens. They feature OIS stabilization and Quad Pixel technology.

In terms of the battery, it also has 30 W TurboPower technology which promises very fast charging. Its availability date has not been revealed but it will be available at prices of 229 € or 249 € depending on its configuration.

Then, the moto g51 is presented in a form, and especially a background, very different. It sports a 6.8 inch FHD + screen, which has a refresh rate of 120HZ, really not bad for entry level. At the rear there is a 50MP photo sensor, just like the moto g31.

Chip level, we switch to Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 pro 5G, a clear step forward compared to Mediatek chips. However, we find the same 5000mAh battery as the other phones. Its price is between 249 € and 269 € depending on the configuration, and it will also be available soon.

Finally, the latest entry-level smartphone, the moto g71 is not that different from the moto g51. We return to a 6.4-inch FHD + OLED screen, the 50MP sensor and the 5000mAh battery is coupled with a 30W TurboPower load. On the other hand, inside we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon SD 6375 chip and, exclusively, 6 GB of RAM. It will be available soon for € 349.

The mid-range with premium performance

Where Motorola stands out is with the only mid-range smartphone presented. This is the moto g200 and its specs make you dream. We start with a 6.7 ”FHD + HDR10 compatible screen, coupled with a refresh rate of 144Hz! A real asset for performance and fluidity enthusiasts. At the rear it has a main sensor of 108 MP which is pretty good.

Finally, inside we find the endless 5000mAh battery coupled to the TurboPower 30W. SoC level, we are entitled to one of the most powerful chips on the market: the Qualcomm Snapdragon SD 888+. All this comes at a price, which is ultimately not that high for performance of this ilk. It will be available soon from € 549.
