Nintendo’s mobile game will soon close its doors

End clap for Dragalia Lost : after several years of good and loyal service, the Nintendo and Cygames smartphone game will soon be permanently decommissioned. It is in a press release posted on the game’s official website that we learn of the scheduled end of the gacha game, one of the first experiments of the Kyoto firm on the smartphone market with a totally original license.

Dragalia Lost prepares to close shop

The closure will be done in two stages and will begin at the end of the current month. March 31 will mark the release of the last content update for Dragalia Lost who will then stop receiving news “other than those intended for the main campaign and certain quests”. The title will thus receive its last salvo of heroes and other summons before stopping any new batch before it goes offline.

More specifically, it is during the month of July 2022 that the title will receive the last part of chapter 26, the final act of its main campaign. The game will then be shut down. ” at a later date “, without further information as to the specific day or month of this service stoppage. The press release does not fail to thank “all players, past and present, for their love and support for Dragalia Lost” since its launch in 2017, almost 5 years ago.

If Dragalia Lost had had a respectable launch, the title seems to have struggled to keep its player base over the years, explaining this sudden shutdown on the part of Nintendo and Cygames. With just over $146 million in revenue in 2020, the title pales in comparison to the monstrous success of Fire Emblem Heroesother gacha game launched by Nintendo in 2017, to more than resounding success. Fire Emblem Heroes was thus able to count on a license already well established in the collective unconscious of the players, in the same way as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Where Mario Kart Tour — games that have outlived the original creation Dragalia Lost.
