So much so even LucasFilm has started polyamory, Electronic Arts is once again renewing its alliance with the license Star Wars-and it’s Respawn Entertainment who will take care of the children. The studio behind titanfall has just formalized the existence of 3 new projects from the Star Wars universe—each of a very different genre… Plus a sequel for Jedi: Fallen Order, the hit of 2019.
The rule of three
It’s an open secret: a sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, the action-adventure blockbuster, is well and truly in production. This is the first time that Respawn has made its existence official, but not the first time we’ve heard of it: in addition to the half-word confirmation from Electronic Arts dating back a few years, journalist Jeff Grubb predicted earlier this months that a proper announcement would be expected before the next edition of E3. In the absence of knowing whether or not the great video game mass will take place, we know that it usually takes place in early June… Which suggests that new information is to be expected for the months to come.
Respawn returns to its first love for the second title of this triptych: it will be a first-person shooter. No information has filtered on this new FPS – except its director, in the quality of Peter Hirschmann, a former LucasArts who participated in the development of several titles stamped Star Wars as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in 2008 or LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga in 2013. More recently, Hirschmann served as director for Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, a VR experience from the shooter franchise.
Finally, the last project is described as a strategy game, developed by the very young studio Bit Reactor and produced by Respawn. Small interesting detail for fans of the genre: at the head of the studio, we find Greg Foerstch—the artistic director of the duology XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 from Fireaxis…
