Samsung has just formalized the launch of its new entry-level tablet, which will arrive on the European market in December.
Rather known for its high-end tablets with its Galaxy Tab S7 + and S7 FE in particular, Samsung formalized yesterday the imminent release of its Galaxy tab a8. After several leaks in recent months, the Korean manufacturer has finally lifted the veil on its new tablet and its technical sheet.
A gentle evolution
For its 2021 version, the Galaxy Tab A8 relies on a logical and unsurprising evolution compared to the Tab A7. We will mainly note a improved processor and graphics card, whose power has been improved by 10% compared to the previous model. Without giving more details, Samsung simply indicates that its tablet will benefit from a chip “Octa-Core, 2 GHz”, which could correspond to a Unisoc Tiger T618. However, we will have to wait a little before getting to the bottom of it.
With its small format of 10.5-inch, and its 1920x1080p HD LCD screen, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 will offer a 16:10 ratio and an 8 Mpx camera. It will also take charge of multitasking, and should establish itself as a solid alternative to Chinese competition, which today occupies a prominent place in the entry-level market, in the face of historical players rather focused on the market. premium.
On the memory side, the Galaxy Tab A8 will offer two configurations with 3 or 4 GB of RAM, and internal storage of 64 or 128 GB. However, it will be possible to increase this space via a microSD card, compatible up to 1 TB. 7,040 mAh battery and a USB-C fast charging port will complete the whole thing, ensuring the tablet a few hours of battery life under the hood. Finally on the connectivity side, it will be necessary to do without the new WiFi 6 and 5G standards, to be satisfied with WiFi 5 and Bluetooth.
Pricing and availability
For the moment, Samsung has not yet communicated a price list for its Galaxy Tab S8. We can however expect a starting price of around € 250. As a reminder, it is at this price that the Tab A7 in 32 GB version was marketed at the time of its release. See you at the end of December to find out.
