Samsung announced a few days ago that it had been the victim of a massive cyberattack, the second since the beginning of the year. The South Korean giant thus confirms information from The Hacker News site which 5 days ago claimed that Samsung’s servers had again been hacked, resulting in a major leak of personal data (names, contacts, date of birth of customers ) and professional (product data of US customers).
Samsung therefore acknowledges the attack by means of a press release:“In late July 2022, an unauthorized third party acquired information from certain US Samsung systems. On or around August 4, 2022, we determined, as part of our ongoing investigation, that certain customers’ personal information had been affected. » As a reminder, during the first quarter of this year, Samsung was the unfortunate target of the LAPSUS$ group, and again, sensitive data had been recovered by the cyber-hackers. Obviously the protective measures that had been taken following this attack proved to be insufficient.
