It’s the end of a suspense that will have lasted several months: Sony has announced the upcoming arrival of new levels for its subscription Playstation Plus. The latter will soon be enhanced with new bearings combining the offer of PlayStation Now, the catalog of games for download similar to the offer of Microsoft’s Game Pass.
It is to compete with Microsoft’s service that the Japanese brand is launching this new initiative, combining its own subscriptions in formulas with different advantages. Everything is summarized in a post available on the official PlayStation blog.

PlayStation Plus comes in Extra and Premium plans
For those most resistant to changes, good news: the standard subscription to PlayStation Plus, renamed PlayStation plus Essential will remain unchanged. It will keep its advantages: the inclusion of two “free” games per month, exclusive promotions, storage of saves in the cloud and online multiplayer. Its price, set at €8.99 monthly, €24.99 per quarter or €59.99 per year, will also remain unchanged.
The first new tier will be called PlayStation Plus Extra, and will include all the benefits of PlayStation Plus Essential. will then be added “a catalog of around 400 games” PS4 and PS5, including first-party from the firm as well as other games from third-party publishers. Like the Game Pass, these titles can be downloaded at will. This new level is accompanied by an increase in the price of the subscription which thus goes to €13.99 per month, €39.99 per quarter or €99.99 per year.
Finally, the last third of the subscription is the most complete, but also the most vague. Entitled PlayStation Plus Premium, it logically combines all the advantages of the previous formulas. Add to them “340 additional games”including PS3 games available for streaming, and “a catalog of great classics” taken from the PS, PS2 and PSP consoles to download, but also playable in cloud gaming.
Still on the cloud gaming side, the Extra tier PS4 game catalog will also be available for streaming on PS4, PS5 and PC consoles. This Premium offer is unsurprisingly the most expensive, with a price set at €16.99 per month, €49.99 per quarter or €119.99 per year. The launch of the new Extra and Premium levels is expected for the month of June, without further details.
