Sony’s Game Pass competitor clarifies price

The PlayStation Spartacus project seems to be on the right track to release soon. We take stock of the latest rumours.

Sony has yet to officially announce it, yet everyone is preparing for its imminent arrival. We are of course talking about the Spartacus project, the alleged replacement for PlayStation Now, expected for this spring. A few months ago, we learned that the service, a more advanced and more complete version of PS Now merged with the PlayStation Plus subscription, would offer three different subscription plans.

Today, the latest rumors put their hands on the potential prices of this Game Pass for PlayStation. This new information comes to us directly from journalist Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat, who states that the three formulas should be called Essential, Extra, and Premium. The prices would be between 10 dollars for the cheapest, and 16 dollars for the most expensive, through 13 dollars for the Extra formula. The prices in euros are currently not known.

Three formulas for three ways to play

But who says different formulas, necessarily says different privileges. Also according to the journalist, the cheapest formula should strictly copy the operation of the current PlayStation Plus. As a reminder, this service gives you access each month to free downloadable games, often three or four in number, and allows you to play multiplayer games online.

The Extra subscription should include a catalog of more than 300 downloadable games on your console, most of which are already available in the PlayStation Now catalog. We finally come to the Premium subscription, which should include access to so-called “classic” games, so we can expect many backward compatible PS1, PS2 and PS3 titles, as previous rumors already had under -understood.

A launch soon?

For the moment, the Jeff Grubb does not communicate any precise release date, but explains that the service is “ quite close to its actual launch “. Indeed, according to him, something is probably going to happen by the end of the month and I don’t think that necessarily means publicly, I think in terms of an internal milestone of where the service needs to be. So keep your eyes open for the next few weeks, Spartacus could arrive sooner than expected.

In the meantime, know that you can still subscribe to PlayStation Plus for €8.99 per month, €24.99 per quarter or €59.99 per year, and enjoy the games of the month of March available from tomorrow. You can also subscribe to PlayStation Now, available for €9.99 per month, €24.99 per quarter or €59.99 per year, while it gives you access to hundreds of streamable games. or download.
