Spotify will separate Play and Shuffle buttons for premium members

Spotify announces a change for its subscribers, namely premium members, who will be entitled to separate buttons for the Play and Random functions.

Spotify Separate Shuffle Buttons

Currently, Spotify’s interface uses a combo button for playing and shuffling content. It sits at the top of playlists and artist pages. The change should therefore make things easier for Premium members who prefer to listen to the songs in the order they are listed.

Here’s what Spotify says:

This new change will allow you to choose the mode you prefer at the top of playlists and albums, and listen the way you want. Whether you love the joy of the unexpected with Shuffle mode, or prefer to listen to the tracks in order with just a press of play, Spotify has you covered.

Spotify has been criticized in the past for its penchant for mixing tracks. The users were not the only ones disturbed, several artists also criticized this operation. In particular, some explained that the order of their album was important and therefore the system of the music streaming service was a problem.

The update for the two buttons for Play and Shuffle will gradually arrive over the next few weeks on Spotify’s iOS and Android app with a dedicated update.
