New renowned acquisition for the Chinese group Tencent which announces the acquisition of Turtle Rock Studios, the American team behind the franchise Left4Dead and more recently the games Evolve and Back 4 Blood. Back 4 Blood stays with Warner

However, this purchase will have no impact on Back 4 Blood, the studio’s latest production and published by Warner Bros. on consoles and PC. No logistical or hierarchical changes are also expected for the California team, still led by co-founders Phil Robb and Chris Ashton.

Tencent’s incredible partners, global reach, deep gaming knowledge and never-before-seen support will help us create all kinds of ambitious games we dream of, while letting us keep our autonomy and independence of mind.”Declared Steve Goldstein, president of the Turtle Rock studio.

Eddie Chan, chief strategy officer for the Tencent Games Global branch, also took a few words for the announcement: “We are huge fans of the Turtle Rock games and most importantly of their awesome approach to creating cooperative online games. We can’t wait to see what they’re up to, and are excited to be a part of their future.. ”

Tencent thinks big

This is an important new acquisition for Tencent which further strengthens its presence in the international video game industry. Last July, the Chinese group had signed a big blow by buying the British studio and subcontractor in the eternal Sumo Digital. Tencent has also invested considerably in several major publishers such as Epic Games, Activision, Ubisoft and Dotnod.

Turtle Rock Studios is currently working on the post-launch of Back 4 Blood, their latest cooperative FPS to date. Yesterday, the title received a major update including a rebalancing of the three difficulty modes, but also a complete overhaul of the single player mode which now allows players to progress while remaining offline.
