Test, opinion and presentation of the electrical station

The EcoFlow brand launched its new electrical station a few weeks ago: the DELTA 2, which has a capacity of 1 kWh. It is an upgrade of the DELTA 1. At first glance, there is not much difference.

But looking more closely, we quickly realize that the new battery incorporates several promising optimizations (lifespan, recharging time, etc.). We will also appreciate the possibility of controlling this battery via a dedicated application.

Quite an elegant design

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 is one of the batteries positioned on the top of the range, and this can be seen in its sober and elegant design. The battery sports a nice rectangular shape, with a glossy black plastic underside. The connectors are located on the 2 sides: left and right of the battery. A small LCD screen is positioned on one side.

It is not very big, but it manages perfectly to retransmit the necessary information. The upper part, in glossy gray plastic, is made up of ventilation grilles on the front and back, as well as 2 handles on the sides. These 2 handles come out on the left and on the right, which makes the battery a little bigger.

However, they offer a little extra protection against shocks. We regret that said there is not a central handle to comfortably take the battery with one hand. Finally, black non-slip rubber pads have been added to the bottom to ensure good stability of the battery.

Characteristics of the electric station

Electric station outputs

The DELTA 2 external battery is equipped with 10 outputs that can be used simultaneously:

  • 4 AC outlets (1800W max)
  • 2 USB-A outputs (5V, 2.4A, 12W max)
  • 2 USB-C outputs (5/9/12/15/20V, 5A, 100W max)
  • 2 DC5521 outputs (12.6V, 3Q, 38W max)

Detailed characteristics of the DELTA 2 battery

For this new station, DeltaFlow has chosen to use LFP (LiFePO4) chemistry. This technology greatly optimizes battery life. It can thus be recharged 3000 times before losing 20% of its nominal capacity. By comparison, older generation Lithium-ion batteries could only be recharged 500 times before losing 20% of their rated capacity.

And, note that the AC output power of the EcoFlow DELTA 2 battery is 1800W, which can power the vast majority of your household appliances. Sufficient power to operate appliances in the kitchen (small kettle, toaster, coffee machine), as well as garden appliances.

If ever a device requires 2400W, a safety device limits the output power to 1800W. This keeps the device on, unlike other batteries that will shut off (go to safety) if equipment requires more than their maximum power. In this price range, very few batteries offer an AC output of 1800W max.

The majority of batteries offer 1000W output. EcoFlow therefore strikes very hard and this advantage can weigh heavily in the balance when you have to make your choice for the acquisition of a battery. The EcoFlow Delta 2 battery also has a very good charging time. With an AC load, it only takes 50 minutes to go from 0 to 80%.

And it takes another 30 minutes to go up to 100%. This generator is therefore part of the equipment with the best charging time. Note that it is also possible to recharge the station on a cigarette lighter socket in your car. In addition, the new EcoFlow can also be recharged using solar panels.

App control

It is possible to control this small generator thanks to your smartphone. EcoFlow has developed an application available on Android and Apple. Pairing your battery with your smartphone takes a maximum of 10 seconds via Bluetooth. But it is also possible to connect your smartphone to your battery via WIFI.

The application is simple and very intuitive. It allows you to quickly view the remaining battery, as well as the various inputs and outputs. It is possible to activate or deactivate via your smartphone the AC, DC and USB outputs.
You can also use the application to set your battery parameters (charging speed, beep sound, time before going to sleep).

The possibility of adding batteries in series

If you need more capacity, it is possible to connect DELTA batteries in series. With an additional DELTA 2 battery, you will have a power of 2 kWh. You can go up to 3 kWh by connecting an additional DELTA Max battery. These additional batteries have the same charging times. However, they have no output (AC, USB, etc.). Only the LCD screen is available to read the remaining battery percentage.

Using the DELTA 2 battery

The EcoFlow DELTA 2 battery will fit in many situations and is therefore aimed at a very wide audience. Its 1800W AC output power allows it to run the majority of household appliances. It will therefore quickly become indispensable during your camping outings.

It will also be suitable for daily domestic use thanks to its battery technology allowing it 3000 recharging cycles before losing 20% of its theoretical power. Finally, for people looking for more autonomy, the DELTA 2 battery can be coupled with other EcoFlow batteries to increase its capacity.

What is the price of the EcoFlow Delta 2 battery

The DELTA 2 battery from the EcoFlow brand is sold at a price of 1199 euros. This is among the most expensive batteries with a capacity of 1024 Wh. However, the many qualities (capacity, charging time, design, mobile application) largely justify this price.
