Tokyo Game Show 2021

the first JV convention to return to physics?

The organizers of the Tokyo Game Show are counting on a physical event for the 2022 edition, a first since the start of the pandemic.

In 2021, as in 2020, physical events and fairs were very rare, if not non-existent. While last year the global vaccination campaign allowed the resumption of certain conventions in hybrid modes, 2022 should mark the return of certain major trade fairs in a totally physical way, as in the world before Covid-19.

This is the case of the Tokyo Game Show, whose 2022 edition will take place at the Makuhari Messe convention center as has been the tradition for many years. The festivities should therefore begin from September 17 for the general public, and September 15 for the media presence. As usual, plan two days of the show with an expected end on September 18, 2022.

It is in a press release that the organizers announce the good news, even though other events, typically E3, still do not count on a physical presence for this year. Moreover, with the complicated situation in Ukraine, the video game world will not only have to worry about the pandemic, but also about the possible acceleration of military tensions.

Part of the online convention

For the moment, the Tokyo Game Show 2022 is therefore expected in physics in a few months, with the simple phrase “Nothing stops gaming” as its theme. The media Gematsu also shares the program for the show, which will include two days of intense festivities, and several interesting areas, including one dedicated to virtual reality that will allow players to follow the conferences from home.

Also note that part of the convention will be available online, just as was the case in 2021. However, players present in person should have access to much more content, including game demos or even word of some advertisers.

What about other conferences?

As of this writing, the Tokyo Game Show organizing committee is a pioneer in holding physical events. However, there are still many conventions that we don’t yet have any news about, including San Diego Comic-Con or the national Paris Games Week, which should celebrate its 10th anniversary late this year. Also scheduled for the fall, the organizers have not yet communicated the terms of participation, if the 2022 edition is not once again canceled.
