After a rather dark and dramatic performance in “Firestarter”, Zac Efron is back in a funnier register. Inspired by a true story, The Greatest Beer Run Ever takes place in 1967, in the midst of the Vietnam War. The film chronicles the journeys of John “Chickie” Donohue, as he travels through Vietnam…to bring beer to his fellow soldiers. Yes, you read correctly, our young hero will brave a thousand dangers to bring some refreshments to his friends!
Both funny and moving
In “The Greatest Beer Run Ever”, Zac Efron plays a young merchant sailor who decides on a whim to support his childhood friends who have gone to war. Filled with good intentions, he goes to the front on his own, with a bag full of beers as luggage. Then begins real misadventures for Chickie who will discover the complexity of the war, but also the responsibilities of adult life. The trailer promises a film that is both funny and moving, with themes of friendship, loyalty or even the sense of sacrifice.
Zac Efron and Russel Crowe go to the front
Chickie won’t be alone on her incredible journey through Vietnam. He will be accompanied by an intrepid journalist. Played by Russel Crowe, he has made it his mission to show the true face of the Vietnam War. The rest of the cast is rounded out by Bill Murray, Jack Picking, Will Ropp, Archie Renaux and many more.
