This is the big news for this Tuesday, March 29: while fans around the world were waiting for it for the end of 2022, the continued of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won’t happen until next year.
More precisely, it is in the spring of 2023 that this highly anticipated sequel will arrive on nintendo-switchas announced by its producer Eiji Aonuma in a video uploaded today on YouTube.

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 won’t arrive until 2023
Aonuma is stingy with explanation in this short announcement video, only revealing the game’s new release horizon. “We previously announced that we were planning to release the game in 2022” thus begins the historical producer of the franchise. “However, we have decided to extend the game’s development time and bring its release date to spring 2023. We would like to apologize to those who were planning to play it this year”.
This is hard news for the most impatient gamers to swallow, but offers some flexibility to the development teams at Nintendo. This postponement in any case considerably frees up the end-of-year agenda of the Kyoto firm, and consequently of the rest of the industry…
We will have to wait a few more months before we can discover this new open-world adventure for Link. After the huge success of Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Wii U and Switch, this sequel should use the same open world formula, this time adding a whole new, much more vertical perspective.
“As previously announced, the adventure of this sequel will not only take place in the lands of the previous game, but also in the skies above them” recalls Aonuma. “However, this world also opens up to new horizons and rest assured that it has a lot of surprises in store for you, such as new encounters and new gameplay elements”. The hovercraft, so important in Breath of the Wild, should return to service and still be essential in exploring the vast lands of the game.
