the series finds a launch date

Two years after the Mate 40 range, Huawei is preparing to lift the veil on the Mate 50 series. The manufacturer will not benefit, this year, from the know-how of the German photo expert Leica.

Huawei may be more and more discreet on the smartphone market in Europe, but it has not lost its taste for innovation. The fallen king of mobile is preparing to return to the forefront with the announcement of its next Mate 50 range. On the Chinese social network Weibo, the manufacturer announces that it will present this high-end series on next september 6.

On this occasion, Huawei would multiply the novelties by unveiling four models. In addition to Mate 50 and Mate 50 Proit would be a question of a Mate 50E and a Mate 50 RS. For now, the Chinese brand is content with a visual showing a sunrise in the mountains. While a ring seems to evoke the circular photo block of the Mate series, the message seems to refer to Huawei’s desire to find the heights.

An ambitious project for the builder who will have to do without Leicahis long-time companion who did not renew his partnership for get closer to the Chinese rival Xiaomi. This is the first time since the P8 and Mate 8 series launched in 2015 that the manufacturer will offer high-end models without Leica. Without the know-how of the German manufacturer, Huawei will try to rely on its experience for its Mate 50 series.

What features for the Huawei Mate 50?

Huawei confirms the presentation date of the Mate 50 series, but the manufacturer remains discreet about the technical sheets of its future models. The latest rumors suggest the presence of Qualcomm chips in the 4G version, the Chinese giant still being unable to supply itself with 5G components. Three Mate 50 models would use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in 4G version while the 50E would carry a Snapdragon 778G, still limited to 4G. The entire range would have Full HD + AMOLED screens, in the format 6.3 inches and 90 Hz for the 50E and 50 or 6.8 inches and 120 Hz (LTPO) for the Mate 50 Pro and 50 RS. We also expect to find batteries of around 4,500 mAh in each model, compatible fast charge at 66W.

Flagship element of Huawei mobiles, the photo part should not be outdone. The entire Mate 50 range would revolve around a 50 megapixel main sensor, with however a difference at the level of the reference. Base models would have a IMX766 module while flagship devices would be entitled to theIMX800. This sensor would be associated with wide-angle optics variable aperture, ranging from f/1.4 to f/4. At least a second sensor 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle would be present and we also expect to see a telephoto lens on the Pro or RS models. Finally, the Mate 50 RS could stand out with its ceramic shell.

To accompany its new vintage, Huawei would present a new 12.4-inch MatePad Pro tablet. Presented during the summer, the HarmonyOS 3 system should animate its various products expected on September 6 in China.
