the Summoner’s Cup is entitled to a redesign by Tiffany

It’s one of the most coveted trophies in the world of eSports: the League of Legends Summoner’s Cup has been given a new design by jeweler Tiffany & Co.

Unveiled in 2012 for the League of Legends Season 2 Championship, the Summoner’s Cup is the ultimate reward for millions of players. And also one of the heaviest: it weighs 32 kilos! On the occasion of the 2022 championship which will take place in several cities in North America (New York, Toronto, Mexico City and San Francisco), Riot Games has decided to dust off the trophy.

A new design that stands out frankly from the old one

For this new design produced by the jeweler Tiffany & Co., the cup is a composition combining stainless steel, fine silver, brass and wood weighing approximately 20 kg. Also included are the names of previous winners and their teams. This new version contrasts sharply with the previous model which looks like an element of a medieval weapon, or a cup from the Middle Ages.

Fans of the game may wince over this design, but that doesn’t take away from the spectacular character of this trophy that all League of Legends players will dream of having on their shelves! Riot Games is used to working with major luxury brands: the game publisher had called on Louis Vuitton to create special cases for the Summoner’s Cup.

As for Tiffany, this is not the first time that the jeweler has worked with video game players. Last year, the company designed the Silver Dragon Cup for the Chinese professional League of Legends.

The 2021 edition of the global competition took place in Reykjavík, Iceland, when it should have taken place in Shenzhen, China. But the health crisis decided otherwise. The 2022 championship final will take place in San Francisco on November 5.
