After several months stuck on solid ground, the next big extension of Microsoft Flight Simulator finally has a take-off date. Announced a long time ago, the crossover DLC with the franchise Top Gun will arrive in the flight simulation this month… The end of a long soap opera which, like its counterpart in the cinema Top Gun Maverickhas been dragging on for quite a while.
Microsoft Flight Simulator prepare for landing Top Gun for this end of May
Originally scheduled for last November by the Asobo studio, this content expansion was finally delayed at the last minute. This is not a trivial decision: this promotional DLC must be released in tandem with Top Gun: Maverickthe last film of the saga at the cinema, whose arrival in dark rooms has also been postponed several times.
Now set for the end of May on the big screen, the extension is also given a final date for May 27. Just like Microsoft Flight Simulator, this DLC will be available on PC, but also Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles via cloud gaming.
Asobo has not yet detailed the content of this large expansion. One thing is certain, however: this DLC will allow you to fly the F-18 fighter plane, the star of the film Top Gun: Maverick to come, piloted by Tom Cruise himself. The F-18 success as well as the F-14 Tomcat made famous by the first film Top Gun, in 1986. It is very likely to find, in addition to additional military aircraft, challenges and quests always focused on the piloting theme of fight.
Last March, Microsoft Flight Simulator received its eighth “world update”, this time dedicated to the Iberian Peninsula. Portugal, Spain, Andorra and Gibraltar thus received new imagery for a much more realistic rendering, in addition to the addition of four new airports modeled by the game teams. Several new discovery flights and other challenges have been added to the game.
