Poco announces the arrival in France of two new smartphones, the M5 and M5s. Marketed at one of the contained prices, they ignore 5G connectivity.
Poco comes to garnish its entry-level this fall with two new smartphones. The Poco M5 and M5s open the ball for a week full of announcements in the world of mobile telephony. These terminals do not come to compete with the flagship models of the moment, preferring to position themselves on the entry level. While Poco recently introduced a 5G M4 under $200, the M5s and M5s are limited to 4G networks.
Poco M5s: the most complete
Decorated with the letter “s”, the Poco M5s is the best equipped model. He carries a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen displaying in Full HD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) at 60 Hz. This definition is an advantage in this segment and the M5s boasts a brightness of up to 1,100 nits. Under the hood, it adds a chip MediaTek Helio G95 with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 to 128 GB of storage. There is also a place for micro SD carda fingerprint reader and a 3.5 mm mini jack socket.
On the back of the device, one finds a complete photo block including a 64 megapixel main module (f/1.8, wide-angle). The manufacturer adds a 8 megapixel ultra wide-angle (f/2.2), a macro module (2 megapixels, f/2.4 optics) and a depth sensor 2 megapixels as well. For selfies, the M5s relies on a 13-megapixel (f/2.4) front camera.
To feed the whole, a 5000mAh battery takes place in the smartphone. It benefits from a fast charge at 33 W which recovers more than 60% of the battery in 30 minutes. Note also that a IP53 certified made his appearance.
The Poco M5s will be available from September 12, 2022 in three colors: black, green, and yellow. It will be available in a 4 / 64 GB version at €229.90 and in a 4 / 128 GB version at 249.90 euros. Faced with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11, it will benefit from a 30 euro discount for its launch (until September 17).
Poco M5: a version for less than 200 euros
Don’t be fooled by its name, the M5 ultimately doesn’t have much to do with the M5s. To be even more affordable, the Poco M5 is equipped with a 6.58 inch LCD screen (2408 x 1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Inside, we are entitled to the brand new SoC MediaTek Helio G99 which promises decent performance with a 6nm manufacturing process. To support it, the M53 adds 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage. It is still possible to add a microSD card and even connect a wired headset (3.5 mm jack) to this smartphone.
The photo part is also more modest, even if there are three modules on the back of the M5. Poco bets on a 50 megapixel main sensor (f/1.8) et two 2-megapixel modules ; respectively dedicated to macro and depth management. It will therefore be necessary to do without the ultra wide-angle that the brand reserves for the M5s. The M5 adds a 5000mAh batterywith a load limited to 18 W.
Oriented entry-level, this Poco M5 is accessible with a starting price set at €189.90. This price concerns the 4 / 64 GB model while the 128 GB version is displayed at 209.90 euros. The Poco M5 will be available in three colors (black, green and yellow) from September 12, 2022 in France. For the launch, it is possible to benefit from a 20 euro discount until September 17.
