they reveal themselves in a video grip

Prototypes of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro appear in a hands-on video. The opportunity to better discover the future smartphones from Google and compare them to the Pixel 6.

Officialized by Google earlier this year, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro did not reveal all their secrets. The Mountain View firm has maintained the mystery since the announcement at Google I/O last May. While waiting for the launch scheduled for the fall, youtuber Unbox Therary has published a Google Pixel 7 hands-on video, or rather prototypes. He has indeed got his hands on not yet finished versions of the two devices, but which would be very close to the models that we will discover soon.

In this video, we discover the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro from every angle as well as a comparison with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. While Google only mentioned the design and the second-generation SoC Tensor, the youtuber tells us more about the dimensions of future models. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be slightly more compact than their elders ; while offering a construction close to the current generation. We keep the glass back and an imposing location to house the photo part.

(Small) size differences

the Pixel 7 would be slightly narrower than its predecessor (73.2mm, versus 74.9mm). It would also be lighter with a weight of 195 grams, against 207 grams for the Pixel 6. As for the Pro variant, it would be thinner with a thickness of 8.82 mm for the Pixel 7 Pro; against 9.02 mm for the Pixel 6 Pro. On the other hand, the size would be identical with 11.50 mm raised at the level of the photo block. On the scale, a difference of one gram was noted and this should not change the user experience.

This video also confirms some elements of the technical sheet, starting with the presence of 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage on the Pixel 7. Its big brother Pro will be entitled to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storagebut it remains to be seen whether Google will also offer a basic version with 128 GB. Finally, the screen of the 7 Pro will continue to offer a refresh rate of 120Hz.

At the end of July, we also mentioned the different photo sensors of its smartphones.

When will they come out?

True to form, Google has a hard time keeping the secret when it comes to its smartphones. Now it remains to be seen when the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be available, and at what price. A launch in September or October is to be expected while the brand could still opt for an aggressive price positioning. As a reminder, the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are respectively displayed at 649 euros and 899 euros excluding promotion.

On the mid-range side, we recall that the brand recently launched a Pixel 6a.
