War in Ukraine: EA removes Russia from FIFA 22

Electronic Arts has made the decision to remove Team Russia from its game FIFA 22, as well as Russian clubs. This will also concern NHL 2022namely the game of hockey.

“EA Sports stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and, like many other voices in the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine”the editor wrote on Wednesday on Twitter. EA Sports thinks “in line with FIFA and UEFA”who ordered on Monday the exclusion of Russia from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but also of all its selections and all its clubs “until further notice”.

The publisher started the update process on FIFA 2022, FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online. He “is also actively evaluating changes to be made in other areas of (its) games”.

Ukraine’s Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has in recent days addressed several major Western tech companies, including video game publishers, urging them to take action to ban Russian and Belarusian accounts from their services. “In 2022, modern technology may be the best answer to tanks, rocket launchers and missiles”he wrote in an open letter to game publishers and esports platforms.
