We tested the Beelink SER3, a mini PC at a reduced price that can make you happy

Known for its mini PCs, Beelink recently released the SER3. The latter, intended for office use, is nonetheless interesting with features offering good value for money!

The Beelink SER3 is a mini PC that has more than one trick up its sleeve. Benefiting from an attractive price, the latter is ideal for daily tasks and even for the game to a lesser extent. We used it for a few days, here is our rather positive feedback.

Beelink SER3: small, but interesting

The Beelink SER3 mini PC is a ready-to-use PC including RAM and storage. This version that we were able to test is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 3750H 2.3-4 GHz processor accompanied by an AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 1400MHz graphics card, 16 GB of 2400 Mhz DDR4 RAM (2 DDR4 slots, it supports up to 64GB), as well as a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD (can be replaced with an SSD up to 2TB), and it even comes with a hard drive slot 2.5 inch SATA (SATA 3.0 6.0 Gb/s).

The Beelink SER3 offers a mainly metal chassis with a few touches of plastic, but overall this case is sober and robust. With just under 500g on the scale (470g), the latter is also quite light, and it offers average dimensions for this type of mini PC (126x113x40mm).

On the connector side, we find on the front, next to the power button, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port (DisplayPort compatible, 4K at 60 Hz), as well as a 3.5 mm jack. .

On the sides, but also on the top, there are ventilation grilles for heat dissipation. Below, there are holes for mounting a removable support to fix the latter behind a screen for example.

On the back, another salvo of connections, this time with a Gigabit RJ-45 port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 HDMI 2.0 outputs, and of course the socket for the mains adapter. Note that it also has Wifi 5 and Bluetooth 4.0.

It comes with 2 HDMI cables, 1 SATA cable (inside the PC), 1 19V 3A power adapter, and 1 wall mounting bracket. Incidentally, the wall-plug AC adapter is both thick and short, which is a bit of a shame.

Note that this Beelink SER mini PC comes with Windows 10 preinstalled and you can upgrade to Windows 11 for free via a simple update. It also supports Ubuntu system.

Interesting performance for a contained price

The Beelink SER3 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen7 3750H processor, 4 cores clocked at 2.3Ghz (4.0Ghz in turbo mode) and with a 6MB cache memory. It is a processor that is a bit dated since it is of 2019, but which for this type of product remains largely suitable. Because the SER3 is not a PC for gamers, but it is more intended for office use. For this, the AMD Ryzen7 3750H processor is therefore more than enough and even fast, it would be the equivalent of the Intel Core i5-8259U if we had to compare it.

The GPU part is provided by a Radeon Vega 10 Graphics 1400 MHz chip. It is a portable graphics chip based on the Vega architecture. It is mainly designed for gamers, although again we remain on a mini PC. Without reaching the performance of a dedicated graphics card, it will allow you to play in 4K 60 Hz on a lot of titles, without any problem. Its performance is very similar to that of the Iris Plus Graphics 655 from Intel.

To be fair, the tasks we ran with this mini PC all ran smoothly, there’s a lot of office stuff, but also multimedia as well as games like CS Go which runs quite smoothly, but it’s clear that we didn’t launch Cyberpunk 2077! Moreover, this Beelink SER3 is an excellent emulation station for old consoles if you are a fan of retrogaming. Similarly, if the mini PC is connected via Ethernet (it also works via Wifi, but it only has Wifi 5), you can perfectly play streaming on Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now or even Microsoft Game Pass.

Finally, the Beelink SER3 is equipped with an intelligent fan that can automatically detect the cooling state and change the temperature of the processor. It thus saves energy and prevents thermal runaway if the PC is left on for long hours. Concern with this system is that the fan pulsates frequently when running demanding loads, such as video streaming or gaming sessions. It’s not extreme since we’re talking about a little noise here. between 29 and 39 dB (vs 23 dB at rest), but in a quiet environment it can be heard. The rest of the time, the SER3 turns off completely and you really hear nothing.

Where to buy it?

Available in France, the Beelink SER3 is around 599 euros in its 16 + 500 GB version, a slightly high price for this configuration which finds some equally competitive laptops opposite it.
